This is a known problem of the captcha control on dnn 5. I logged it here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=9984&PROJID=2

I have some problems with the captcha... I think it works fine except in 1 specified situation.

I have a content pane with a module, who containing a form and a captha control.  In the leftpane there is a module, who will change a photo every 10 seconds.  For this change I use the ASP:Timer control.

If I fill in the form and the captcha and I click on send before the photo has been change, there is no problem.  But if the photo has been change, the captcha will always return an error.

Does somewhone knows how to solve this problem? I'm sorry for my english but I hope you will understand the problem.

hi I have the same probelm. it ocuured after I reconfigured the fckeditor in order to align text porperly. now I get the message: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" every time I try to view articles which I'd published. In Event log I get an error with the DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.CaptchaControl.Render method. I do not have knowledge in coding. I saw your answer in http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=9984&PROJID=2 but I cannot find any capthcacontrol or any other file for that matter in order to paste the code that you've written. Where can I find the file and what should I do in order to solve it?
