I tried the Import/Export page functions on the 4.07 release and they work fine for a given portal/page. But in our case we have a 'child' portal that has been created and I would like to 'Import' the page from the parent portal.

Is such a feature available ? Is there some simple code/database/file changes recommended so I can find a workaround for the same! (or any portal level setting/configuration changes ?)

Import/Export is only available for content within the same portal.

I never tried it, but you could [maybe] take a module export xml file (not page), copy it to the new portal, and import it.

Also, there are a couple of modules kicking around that will allow the sharing of content across portals. Maybe this would help?

Exported pages work the same whether it's within a portal or to another portal. You just have to transfer the template file over and ensure that any modules that were on the page are also present in the new portal. Given that you're doing this to a child portal, the modules will all be present.

Of course, not all modules will send content along with the page so it may not work anyway. Templates are more about transferring a structure than duplicating content.

thanks for all the suggestions - it worked fine - here are the actions performed -

1) 'Export' using Page functions on the parent portal (so this helps you create a template)

2) Host > Host settings > Other settings > File Upload Extension > (,template) - add this extension as this would be required on the next step (step 4)

3) Host > Portals > (select the  child portal)

4) Admin > File Manager > Upload (upload the template created on step 2)

5) Click the Page where you want to import the template on the child portal - Click 'Import' - select option "replace original" - Done!
