Hello community,

Three parties are attempting to get a DNN application running on a new server with little success.  Our web development company (who specializes in DNN, or so I thought), a hosting company, and myself (a dnn novice, but learning).  The application has installed correctly on multiple machines but the production server it is supposed to end up on is not corroperating.  Here is some information;

When all information in the web.config file is (supposedly) correct, and portal alias is set to localhost, the browser comes back with typical 'cannot display the page'

When the SQL user/pwd or catalog data is changed to be incorrect an error screen is displayed

Server Error in '/' Application.

Input string was not in a correct format.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format.

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.832; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.832

Application is using SQL 2005 Express (*i'm aware of the limitations with express)

A lot of people have spent a lot of time on this and i'm hoping someone will have some advice before we have to slam/reconfigure the server.

Thanks for your ideas!

I am going to assume that you are installing DNN v4.08.00.

The line of code that the error is ocurring on is looking for the version to upgrade to.  Looking through the source code, the value it is missing leads me back to the web.config.  Look in your AppSettings.  Is there a setting called "InstallTemplate"?  If so, does it point to a file that actually exists?

For instance, the default value for this AppSetting is "DotNetNuke.install.config".  If this is the value that you have too, you will need to look in the following directory for the file:

~/Install/DotNetNuke.install.config

If you are using a customized config file, I would suggest looking it over and making sure that it is valid.
