Breadcrumbs aide visitors in traversing content-rich sites by providing feedback on how "deep" visitors have navigated into the site and on how to get back where they came from.

The DNN breadcrumb skin object makes it easy to implement breadcrumbs in your skins so there is really no excuse not to use them.

However, there is a small usability issue as DNN's skin object renders the last item in the breadcrumb trail as a link. What can we do about it? Read on ...

Very cool!  I have a similar breadcrumb option for free dowload on my site as well.  It was built as in response to a forum thread here.

However, this one just adds the ability to remove the current page from the breadcrumb list.

Tom,

I submitted this issue to Gemini a little while ago... http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=6970&PROJID=2

Would you add your solution to the issue?

Further, I also think the breadcrumb and sitemap objects should be easily extended by modules.  The blog is a perfect case where the breadcrumb takes the visitor to the blog home but doesn't update for the individual postings.  The visitor won't care about module and tabs, all they know is the great navigation device suddenly stopped updating.

I tried getting some feed back on this but not much happened. If you agree, could you champion the idea?  Perhaps people will listen to a DNN Supporter.

Thanks guys.

Lance - thanks for adding the issue to Gemini ... I've posted my custom skin object there. And you bring up a good point about extending the breadcrumb skin object ... let me think about this.

Lance,

That is a very good recommendation about the extension of the breadcrumb as it could be very helpful if implemented in an easy to use manner.

The only real difficulty that I would see is how you would handle having two dynamic modules on the same page.  (A blog and a store or something odd like that).
