I am attempting a clean installation of 04.08.00. (Using Win XP, IIS6)

I test the database connections (at the appropriate point in the installation screens) and get the following message

"Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 229
Message: The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'sysobjects', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'."

I have granted access to the {Server}/NetworkService user account for all necessary permissions. and have granted access to the database for the NT Authoriy/System and ASPNET database users.

Anyone have any clues as to where my problems lies? I don't have a database that i can find called 'mssqlsystemresource' - where is this system type database held? why is it a problem?

Thanks in advance,

C

it appears that you are attempting to set up sql server as an out-of-state session store. Dotnetnuke does not use session variables so this is not necessary. If you need to do this because of 3rd party modules see http://idunno.org/articles/277.aspx for details on the permissions and setup for session stores.

Thanks for the response Cathal.

As stated in my original post all I have done is perform a clean installation as documented in the dotnetnuke installation details.

If this problem relates to out-of-state session store then this is something that the standard dotnotnuke installation procedure is trying to do.

Can you give any further details of why you think the is an out-of-state issue i.e. what and where can i find the database that is mentioned in the error message?

Thanks in advance,

C

thats the most common issue with that database (mssqlsystemresource). My guess would be your user is missing the necessary permissions for the system database , see https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=866425&SiteID=1
