Hello to all,

I'm hoping someone has run across this issue that I'm having.  I have been working to install 4.8.0 for a few days now, and I've been able to get the Install Wizard to run just fine.  I've tested the file permission and database connection settings, and they work just fine.  The database is created perfectly, from what I can see.  It looks like the installation of DNN goes great.  However, when I try to start the portal up at the end of the installation, nothing happens, the browser just sits.  I've even left it running overnight, and still the portal doesn't load.  I've tried installing the portal on a Windows 2003 machine and a Vista machine and have received the same results in both places.  I've even tried 4.7.0 and see the same thing happening.  I'm really confused as to what might be going wrong, since I don't even have any error messages displaying.  I have a legacy version of DNN (4.3.7) that I've been able to install and get working, so I think my setup can work with DNN, but there's something about the latest installment that my setup isn't agreeable with.

I know there isn't much information here, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?  Any help/ideas/insight you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Justin

OK, one other piece of information.  I tried loading the page in Firefox and I get this error:

"The page isn't redirecting properly"  "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." "This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."

I've checked my cookies settings and they're enabled to receive them, so I'm not sure what else might be causing this.

Thought this would help since I didn't have any other error info to go on.

Thanks again!

Justin

Bump. I have the same issue, and there doesn't seem to be ANY documentation that helps with this. My setup is exactly the same, install works, and when you go to the portal you get the error in Firefox. I'm running on localhost in a subdirectory (localhost/dnn408 for me) on a standard port. Adding the option in appSettings for using the port number didn't help. Also ran through the SQL and there are no redirecting loops in the TabIDs.

Any help would be appreciated. My e-mail is mike@hallock.net if anyone wants to discuss further with me.

What happens if you bypass the wizard and install manually?

If it was a fresh test install then start from scratch (but save a copy of your web.confg so that you have the correct connection string format) and change <add key="UseInstallWizard" value="true" /> to false in your web.config. As long as the connection strings are correct it shouldn't throw any errors.

If it was an upgrade then restore the site back to when it was working and turn off the install wizard on the upgrade.

Actually, I've tried just running the manual installation.  The installation, as with the wizard, runs perfectly, all the tables are created in the database, the page structure all looks good, but I'm still unable to bring up the main page.  I had to revert to using 4.3.7 with my client so we could get something running, but I'd love to be able to give them something that is much more recent.  Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has run into this problem!  I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this and, hopefully, has found a solution?

Thanks again for the suggestions and help!

Justin
