I see a lot of great modules, but which one would I use to write some simple form data to an SQL or Access database?

Judging by the general nature of your question, I would suggest a general module.  :)  This is not a bad thing though.  The XMod Module will handle most of the things you throw at it.

Commercial module from http://components.init.si/ has built-in support for both, you can try it for free. Otherwise you can use "linked server" option inside sql express database and use some of free modules also.

Let's say I can't buy a module right now. Is there a FAQ or such about the "linked server"? Which module would I use?

UDT is very nice, but I don't see it saving to an external database. Do I have to write something in code and use IFrame?

Just not sure where to head (using included/free modules). I can't be the only one who wants to do this.
