Hi,

Can an one of you tell me the difference between the admin skin and the portal skin.  Because I am facing problem. In my dotnetnuke application have set Skin1 as portal skin and Skin2 as admin skin. And when I run my application then effect of Skin1 is coming in first page but when I move to next page or second page of my module then skin2 to is getting activate. And when I set both Portal and Admin skin the same one like Skin1. Then only same skin is showing whole the time. I don't know why it is happening. As per my point of view even in first case Skin1 should be activate whole the time because it is set as a portal skin.

So, any one of you kindly define me where I am doing mistake and how to solve it.

Thank you all.................

This is all changing in DNN Cambrian (5.*) from what I understand.

But basically the Admin skin is used anytime you request a specific control in the URL. If you notice your URL is changing, it most likely has ctl/MYCONTROL or ctl=MYCONTROL in the URL. DNN handles that request by default by loading that control, and only that control, in the admin skin.

There are ways around it, using placeholders and loading controls dynamically based on OTHER querystring parameters that you build into the link is usually my preferred method.

Thank you very much brother.

Your answer is very accurate. But can you please tell me another suitable process for useing portal skin when a specific control is being request.  because it will create problem in module packaging when I load control dynamically.

Thank you again.....................

I don't follow what you mean by "it will create problem in module packaging when I load control dynamically"

Here's a basic scenario

You have a "master" control perhaps you call it MYView, you have a module definition of the type VIEW for this control

That control loads all of your other user controls in a placehold based on querystring parameters.

You can package and deploy that like any other module. Check out my blog on NANT packaging of modules.
