By the way *.txt, *.xsl and *.pdf files are displayed fine. I mean inside the frame. But putting *.doc or *.xml file inside Iframe leads to openin an external apps when I'm switching to this page.

You can't control what happens! Try the same with FF and you will see your XML file. Using IE a lot of different things can happen, depending on your client configuration.

I'm not sure if that is what he was asking for, but neither method works for me.  I'm embedding an iframe reference to google maps, and the Map directions To and From, pop out of the iframe to my window, when I'd rather have them pop to a new window.  I don't have access to their javascript or their links to modify. 

Is there a way (IFrame or otherwise) to for links to redirect to a new window when you don't have  control over them?

Nothing comes to mind immediately... :(

I'll post again if I can think of a work around for you...
