I'm having a lot of fun building my first module using the LINQ to SQL method outlined on Michael's web site (thanks Michael!)  I've got all the core functionality I've intended working and am trying to tie up the loose ends like implementing iPortable, putting in all of the error handling, getting the install/uninstall stuff sorted out, and getting the module to clean up after itself when deleted from a page.

Regarding this last bit, cleaning up after itself...I found a post in this forum where this came up before and the recommendation was to put a trigger on the Module table to delete the Module's custom data when the module was deleted from the Module table.  Is that really how you guys do it?  Isn't there some way to tap into the "Delete Module" action more directly?  Doing this as a trigger seems kind of low level.

If I do implement the trigger, I am thinking I need to first find my Module in the ModuleDefinitions table to identify its ModuleID, since the ModuleID could vary by installation, right?  Is it reliable to identify my module by Friendly Name in the ModuleDefinitions table?

Thanks!

-Pat

don't use triggers, the correct architectural way to do this is with a foreign key relationship which will cascade the deletes. If you look at any core modules they all use a similar setup. http://www.flatburger.com/Default.aspx?tabid=5488&EntryID=214 describes the steps and provides a sql example.
