Hi I have my DNN website on a server which doesnt support DNN. Each update, i have to download latest version of website, update it, then upload it back to the server(with the danger that i have over rided something on the live site in the 20 mins it takes to do this). im just wondering is it worth upgrading to a DNN supported server? Im from Dublin and have hosting here, but DNN servers are quite expensive in comparison to the ordinary ones. Will i be able to update my site from anywhere once i have a DNN server?

Thanks

Mark

Mark,

there are no specific "DotNetNuke Servers", but there are hosters specialized in DotNetNuke hosting who provide additional services and appropriate tools to manage your web site or your own web server. You need to be aware of your hosting needs to select an appropriate hosting provider.

please explain - do you get errors when you try to update on the server?  if so then what are the errors? DNN is just a asp.net application like any other asp.net application - if it runs on the server then the update should also run.

You should be able to run the update on the server directly (make backups of course).  You can use an app_offline.htm file to pause your site during updates.
