I, for one, am ok with amount and process of moderation here.  Posts here generally stay on topic and aren't cluttered with nonsense, blathering, or spam.

Seriously, what's the most time you've ever had to wait for one of your posts to be reviewed?  ...5 minutes? ...20 minutes? ...an hour?  ...a day?  It's seems like that would be an important factor.  I've never had to wait more than a few minutes before my posts are posted (knock on wood), hardly making this forum 'unusable'.

Your are one of the rare people sadly, I have noticed posts that sit in the queue for long periods of time, it just depends on when it was posted and when the moderators get there.  They are typically pretty good about it, but with the forum problems recently sometimes I think a few go unnoticed....

Thanks for all the replies.

First, thanks for pointing out the threads/page setting - I looked quickly unders settings and missed it.. still getting used to these forums.  The default really should be higher. (imo)

And, I can certainly see the arguments for and against this moderation thing, but I don't really see it as a community if I'm moderated.  The big red letters above SAY Community, but I don't feel it.  I guess that after a number of posts by a user that goes away which definitely makes it more tolerable.  But, as a DNN newb, I search, then I ask.  I've waited more than an hour for my question to show up, then of course after an hour goes of another person waiting to be unmoderated, I can reply to that person and wait an hour to be unmoderated.  I post on some other tech forums and they don't do this.  Things get off topic, but if you have a question, it's answered within minutes.

You can say it's done because it works, but I'd argue it doesn't seem to be working.  It's nearly impossible to get good free info on DNN.  This forum is as close as I've found.  I think this form of moderation would turn off most developers (which I have been for 15 years) and I probably would have tried a different CMS if I realized this place with this moderation was the best form of support I could get.  I mean no offense to the mods whatsoever.. I've never been moderated, I just disagree with this form of moderation.  A little spam or a little off topic banter and trolling isn't going to hurt anyone or destroy a forum as long as you have a "hey mods" button and mods to do clean up as needed.

I'll stop whining now.

I've posted a reply to a post on the 'chat about it' forum and the forum shows I was the last reply and even counts only one reply to to the original post, but I have not seen a confimation in my email box, and my reply does not show up on the thread. It says one reply but only shows the o.p.

What is wrong with that? The fora have a bug. I cannot sell this to my employer when something as simple as the 'forums' INCLUDED with the software don't work.
And it's not just my employer: it's our clients- AT&T, Ericsson, Verizon, T-Mobile, Metro-PCS and the like that refuse to deal with something like this.

I'm sure all those fancy clients can spring for a copy of the commercial Active Forums product. Don't even look at the freebies if you're planning on selling it.

Don't worry, it's not whining.... you're the audience and your assessment is 100% correct. The system is just plain dumb and it's one of the many ways in which DNN "Corp" fails miserably when it comes to managing communications channels. I've been bleating about this for three years now and they simply have no idea. Just imagine handing your corporate comms over to a bunch of devs in the IT team... hah!

On the positive side however, is that the moderation means that Sebastian has to read every post and he just can't resist replying to nearly all of them

Rob
