I am constantly amazed by the whiners and complainers who expect to get EVERYTHING for FREE.  If you don't like DNN - then go with something and be happy.

The fact that I can put together a functional and stylish web site with the FREE DNN Core and some commercial modules and skins for a couple hundred dollars me a very happy camper.

DNN isn't perfect.  Nothing is.  But it's pretty darned good in my opinion.

The fact that I can do this as a result of thousands of hours that have been put into this project by volunteers who do not get paid for their efforts ... I for one am very grateful for their efforts.

Al - I think you hit the nail on the head. There are tons of people out there using DNN and customizing it to the tilt to suit their specific needs - and then there are others (thankfully in the minority) who constantly whine and complain about how dnn doesn't do this or do that. DNN has come a long way since it's inception and is only going to get better with time. There is a strong user community as well as developer community that is constantly trying to improve on the framework as well as the modules itself. I personally think that people sometimes lose focus of the fact that DNN is open source and expect to get 100% of everything to suit their particular need without thinking that the DNN team has to constantly walk a thin line between making a feature that works for one person verses a feature that can be used by the majority of the users out there.

Encouraging two wiki, forum, blog, etc teams is not the answer.  Wouldn't the answer be to open up the teams?

I'd think the Forge was for new modules.

I would also point out that the DotNetNuke forge was created in part to allow more of the community to participate in creating OS modules.  If you don't like the way one module team is being run, form your own and build it out.  Nothing is stopping you.  In fact we have put the tools in place to make it easier for people to find your OS module and to contribute to your project.

Tom - As to your comments I am not sure why you are even posting to this forum.  Clearly you don't care for DotNetNuke and yet you continue to actively participate in the community.  To me that seems a bit odd.

AGREED!  I for one am amazed at the stability and utility of the core AND many of the free core modules.  I know some core modules are more stable than others.  I personally run dozens of websites on DNN + a handful of 3rd party modules.  The total price tag was only a few hundred dollars....A FANTASTIC DEAL!!!!  My sites have been running for years now are are rock solid stable with thousands of users.  Considering that the core is hundreds of thousands of lines of code and I have 3rd party modules in the mix, that's amazing.

I want to personally thank the core team and all the 3rd party module developers out there making DNN one of the best website platforms.  NICE JOB!!!!!!!!
