Actually, a new skinning contest has been in concept stage since before Thanksgiving.  However, in order to gain the most value from a contest (for the community and the contributors), the idea of sponsoring a skinning contest was deferred until after a few updates to the skinning engine could be completed.

You should be hearing more about a skinning contest within the next few weeks.  Rather than answer any questions about that here, I will allow the new Skinning Project team to speak to that when they are ready.  Yes, that's right... *grin*... a Skinning Project ;)

Cheers

well, like I said I don't want to step on any toes.  If DNN has a contest great, if they want me to cancel mine I can totally understand.  I prefer to work with the community, not against :->.

Just looking to do my part.  I'll keep mine going as is though since I did offer it already, and I'm having fun with the idea :->

Let me know if I can help anyhow.

Josh

Josh ~ No worries at all, happy to see an enthusiastic supporter.  No reason to cancel your event.  Just responding to the notion that this area was being neglected at the "mothership".  Have fun!

Josh,

You may not be concerned, but you really need to think twice about giving anonymous users the ability to upload skins.
In effect you are allowing them to upload any server side code they want to run.

point well taken, as within a day someone crashed the server with a skin :->

I guess I'll have to modify the rules a bit to have people upload via a repository or something...
