We have discovered that when logged in as host and changing between portals on the same installs, if you update a page with a file link it often clears the file link.

example: Login in under portal A as host. Then select Portal B and edit. Select "site settings" and look at the logo file link "under advanced" and you will see it is now pointing to the first file in the list. If you were to select update the logo will no longer be visible on the sites home page. I have also seen this occur with document modules. We do not see this problem if you are not changing portals or login as Admin.

  • which DNN version are you using
  • I would be careful with changing portal context before changes as well as using multiple browser instances to navigate in multiple portals the same time.

That sounds like that issue we've discussed in other posts whereby any changes made to portal settings via the host menu removes the portal logo. I've noticed since that it affects icons as well.

Sebastian.. do you know if this ever made it into Gemini.. or was perhaps even fixed already? (I'm still on DNN 4.7)

Sebastion  we are using 4.08.00.

This is one of those areas where we try to be careful but this change is hidden. For example, I may change portals to edit something like a site security setting but it will clear the logo link which you don't see unless you open the "Appearance" section.

I'm going to add it to Gemini just in case it isn't there, because this really should get into 4.8.1

Added here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=7093&PROJID=23

In the meantime you will have to sign in to each site separately and use the Admin, Site Settings menu to make per-portal changes and not lose the log. Hiding or showing settings page section doesn't have any affect on this.
