Hi,

I have a user that was previously able to login successfully. I have since changed the value of 'username' in the Users table to reflect a change of domain and I am now unable to login. IIS has been restarted and we are using windows authentication. I have checked the Users table in the database which shows the correct domain\username value for the column  'username', the IIS error also shows that the web session is for the new domain i.e. 'newDomain\test.user'.

Any ideas, we have restarted IIS with no change.

Here is an entry from the IIS log if it helps

So this is just one user? Also, the AD/Windows authentication provider only works on the domain it authenticates against.

In other words, if the AD provider is setup to work with TEST1 domain and you are making a change so that the user can log into TEST2 domain, then this will not work as the user does not exist in TEST1 where the DNN is authenticating against.

The only way I can see this working is if the AD provider is authenticating against a child domain and the user's account is in a parent domain. In that case permissions MAY propagate.

Be more specific and then we can look at solutions.

Just to add to what Christopher was saying. If you altered the Users table you'll also have to alter the aspnet_Users table as the user would not match across both...
Bear in mind that this table also using fields encrypted using the the machine key in your web.config

Well I dont know if it helps as I have inherited this stuff. If we reboot the server after the name is changed in the users table then the change is picked up. Shutting down IIS on its own does not solve the issue. Will try and get some more details, at the moment it looks as though something is being cached outside of IIS.
