That appears to be because your "ModuleSettings.ascx.vb" does not "Inherits DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.ModuleSettingsBase"

I would not have caught that; thank you. I installed your ThingsForSaleVB module and opened each of the controls. In design view there is an Error Creating Control until I register the assembly below. After I do that it renders, but for some reason the Link Button does not make the FormView visible.I am using Visual Studio 2008.

Michael,

I can say with certainty that my issues are with version 4.8.1.  I created a new installation with version 4.7.0 and everything (including your ThingsForSale module) worked. There has to be something that changed in the core that they need to be made aware of that breaks LINQ to SQL. I do not know what, but it has to do with Install version 4.8.1. I hope it's found before release of 4.8.2 or 5.0.

When you upgrade to DNN 4.8.1 you have to use it's web.config and transfer the settings from your old web.config to the new one. You also have to put in the special keys to make linq to sql work.

This should work.
