Hi Gang,

After  being a little harsh on DNN and some of its modules in my previous articles, I'm happy to profile one of the best and brightest in the DNN world.  Check it out here:

Ultra Video Gallery Review Part 1

And stay tuned for Part 2!

Your suggestion modules are 'under priced' is idiotic, at best. Some of us (as how DNN came to be) are hobbyist. We will not pay $200.+ for a simple module just to look 'special' for some corp suit who thinks more = better. You will, in effect kill the at-home/small bussiness web masters (and I would argue we make up the majority of DDN users) and we will leave DNN for other options, thus leaving DNN to the small group of corp elitists.

There are much better ways to get corp attention then outpricing the product from the non-big business users. If you want to kill the product in the long term then thats the way to go.

Ok, that's one opinion, and I happen to disagree with your logic... (very possible I'm an idiot, I suppose). But, the important thing is your comment relates to a previous article: Are DNN Modules Underpriced? Which, if you notice, ends in a question mark. I personally wouldn't characterize the IT and web marketing leaders of small, mid, and large corporations as "a small group of corp elitists". They are a rather large group of people with mission critical needs that need to know their solutions are backed by serious companies-- The kind of companies that maintain enough staff and overhead to require higher module pricing than traditionally seen with DNN.

But......... back to the actual topic at hand: What do you think of Ultra Video Gallery? Killer, huh?

I said your 'suggestion' was idiotic, not you as a person. Please read what I typed.

With that said;

> I personally wouldn't characterize the IT and web marketing leaders of small, mid, and large corporations as "a small group of corp elitists".

Well by making modules priced out of the way of self employed, hobbyist and small businesses you ARE then regulating DNN to only mid and large companies. And that is a small group of current DNN users unless you have some hard stats to dispute that claim. From my understanding it is accurate to say if you remove the self employed, hobbyist and small buss. users from DNN you are left with a minority group.

> hey are a rather large group of people with mission critical needs that need to know their solutions are backed by serious companies-- The kind of companies that maintain enough staff and overhead to require higher module pricing than traditionally seen with DNN.

So your solution to that is raise prices to alienate the groups I mentioned above with the outdated view more costly = better? As I said you do that and for every corp that jumps on board DNN you'll lose 5 smaller developers and DNN users who are outpriced and move on to something more wallet friendly. You think that makes logical sense?

Of course I get the impression from you, you don't give a damn about us hobbist and small buss owners (who has been the foundation of DNN up to this point). You rather throw us under the bus for a short sighted goal.
