But, the important thing is your comment relates to a previous article: Are DNN Modules Underpriced? Which, if you notice, ends in a question mark.

no actually you clearly stated your opinion when you said

In Are DNN Modules Underpriced?, I suggested that a pervasive "cheapness" in the DNN ecosystem is choking the growth of module developers and limiting DNN’s acceptance in the enterprise market.

Strauss makes a great point and it is clear that your thinking is from the corporate prespective and not from the opensource prespective. Opensource projects can take a while to mature to the poit that they become useful in corporate setting but you would in fact be being an idiot if you were suggesting that this cannot or does not happen (linux, svn, phpbb, etc...)

There are also plenty of companies out there who will provide support and custom development for those who are egar to spend a lot of money to get more peice of mind but really maybe you just need to realize that there is already a sharepoint out there for the kinds of applications that you are trying to address and to realize that all the excitment around DNN comes from the fact that MS is finally able to get a good open source project going.

While I haven't used UVG, we do use UMG (the only module we have bought so far) and it is great.  As for charging more for modules, the price and support are why we used DNN.  We do not have a tremendous budget to work with, and for less than $200, we have a decent looking website up.  Took a hair longer to learn how to use than we planned, and we still don't have a good, affordable store-front solution yet (it HAS to have attributes, and CataLook is too complicated).  $20 here, and $60 there start to add up, particularly when not all commercial modules live up to the cost.
