John's solution would be attractive for one portal only (i believe). But, i want to implement the solution in such a way that any newly created portal will have the admin menu that i choose for the administrators.  Doing John's solution for each portal is not practical as the portals are created dynamically by site users.

I am open to further clarification on this solution to see if it can implement once so that new portals are assigned the new admin menu

>Please Help on the above issue.

as I understand it you want to restrict the admin menu functions depending on role etc - ok have a look at TRTControlPanel (just google TRTControlPanel and you will find it)

I use the DNN3 version but check the web site and see if it is available in DNN4 the dnn3 version may run on DNN4. This module should give you all the control over what is available to who on the control panel.

I tried TRTControlPanel.  It does NOT work with DNN 4.08.01.

I tried with 4.08.00 on a staging website where i play with and try different things. It worked. But, it is not complete. It does not show "Roles"

The module developer has not released new versions.

So, i am back to square one.  I am still looking for either a SQL script or a module that can allow me to restrict admin options for "administrators" role. The superuser will have to retain full access to everything as usual. I want to be able to remove some of the admin options and control panel options to new site owners.

I am sure there are experts in DNN among you.  PLEASE HELP.

You can move the admin menu items to the host menu, if you want.

Go into the database (dbo.tabs) and change the admin pages ParentID to the host menu parent page, and set the PortalId to NULL. Also change the TabPath field

I think you'd be better of just creating a security role for your "admins".

Can you explain more on this? What are you trying to accomplish? I may be able to help.

I did not try this in 4.8.1 until seeing here you have a issue. What exactly is the issue for you? Nothing is jumping out to me in my 4.8.1 environment.

It would have been nice to get a heads up instead of reading it here. When I get time I will release a new version. I can't give any dates of when.
