Hi fellows,

Is there a *quick* workaround to enable multiple authors for the DotNetNuke Blog? If not, do you have knowledge of a 3rd party blogging module that has this feature?

thans in advance

Hi Rafael,

In the DNN blog every user has their own blog and while there are ways to get around this, they can lead to some confusion because the DNN blog isn't designed to support multiple authors inside a single blog.  The datastructure only supports assigning a user id at the blog level, so entries associated with a blog will automatically be associated with the user account assigned to that blog.  In the UI, the blog author will always be lilsted as the user assigned to the blog.

Having said this, you can have multiple blogs listed inside of a single instance of the blog module in your site.  Blogs at DotNetNuke are using this feature of the DNN blog module.  The disadvantage to the DNN blog module at this point is that you can only have one set of blogs per portal.  There's no way to have two distinct sets of blogs based on two distinct instances of the blog module.  You can place an instance of the blog module on a page and choose to show only blog entries from a single user's blog, but you can't specify that you want, say 4 out of the 20 blogs in a portal shown on one page.

One of the most common third party modules that I've heard of people using to get around this limitation is the Ventrian News Articles module.  Multiple authors can contribute to the same blog and you can also assign multiple categories to a single blog entry, another limitation of the DNN blog.

If you decide to go with either one of these tools, you'll want to check out metaPost.  It's a module which provides a bridge between DotNetNuke and Windows Live Writer.

Don

I'll second the reccommendation for Ventrian News Articles.  I use it for my blog http://www.mitchelsellers.com

Maybe the Ultimate DNN Blog Module - SunBlogNuke also is your alternative choice. That is a Wordpress-Like module for writing the blog post in the DNN platform. Yesh, the multi-author capability  for a single blog is supported in the beginning. The multi blog instances for different pages is implementeded, too.

Hope it makes sense.

Kind regards
Baldwin
