Ok,

I need all the help I can get.  I was given advice to develop my dotnetnuke site on my local machine (easy portability and constant access).  I am now done with development and ready for production and went through the steps (that I could find) to publish the site to GoDaddy.  I used the Database Publishing Wizard for sending my database up and that worked great (except for the Forum module tables giving me errors, had to uninstall them)!

Now, for the dotnetnuke files.  I went by some directions (http://www.spencerteck.com/WalkThroughsGuides/DNNGodaddycomRoot/tabid/80/Default.aspx) on how to set the folders up and proper permissions on GoDaddy so that dotnetnuke will have proper access to the files/folders.  That I have setup exactly the way it says I should, so then, I uploaded my existing local files up to GoDaddy then attempted to access my site.

Here's the problem,  I'm getting an error about a folder that doesn't exist.  Problem is, this folder shouldn't exist.  It's telling me that it can't find the \DesktopModules\App_Code\HTML folder.  So just trying anything to make it work, I created those folders that it requested (they're the codeSubDirectories setup in the web.config file on line 100), and it gave me another error that it couldn't find the code files for the HTML module.

So, what do I have wrong?  What do I need to change?

Any Help Please,
Gomer

Do yourself a favour - fire Godaddy and go with a decent hosting provider. For example www.dotnetpark.com or www.powerdnn.com

Godaddy is the worst Windows hosting provider (don't know about their Linux service, but I think it is not better).

Well,

After working a few sleepless nights, I got it to work.....THEN, GoDaddy changed their policy and allows you to install on the root of your domain now.  Here's how:

1) Go to the hosting control panel and click on "Your Applications"...

2) Once there, click on Content Management on the left-hand side...

3) Click on DotNetNuke...

4) Click on Install Now and then it will walk you through a wizard.  The 2nd or 3rd step in the wizard asks what location and by default it's got something like yourdomain/dotnetnuke...All you have to do is read the info there and it lets you know you can remove the dotnetnuke part and it will install on the root of your domain...

5) VOILA!!!

:)
