I'm using a custom module to display sitemaps for the end user.

I use DNN's default SiteMap.aspx solution for my "raw xml" sitemap (which I submit to Google).

This solution has worked for me in the past, but I've never been thrilled with it--it just "works". My chief complaint is that there is no way to set page priority throughout your site--all pages show up with a priority of 0.8.

I've got this discussed here.

Thanks for the links, everyone who submitted them, I'm going to check out 3rd party solutions.

Ben,

I agree with scippy one above - and use iFinity.  It's free and you get the source.  I believe it actually looks at the "updated date" and sets the page priority based on that.

They also did a great job in making it extendable into your own custom Modules (or other modules you want to include) - I used on 2 of my own custom modules. and couldn't be happier.  I check out some of the others on this thread - but liked iFinity's best.

Hope this helps!

I appologize for posting this here. Maybe the admains can move it to a new post. I have been unable to post a new message to the forum for 2 days. The error I get is :

An error has occurred.
Error: Add/Edit Post is currently unavailable

Anyway. my question is about caching and expires headers.

I have a very simple DNN site. I want the images and css and js to never expire and the html to expire once a day. I am on a hosted server, but they have set all my file extensions to go through asp.net. I have PageBlaster installed and configured.

Everything seems to be working except that all the files are set to expire in 14 days. How do I get the images (etc.) to expire never and the html and aspx files to expire in a day?

Does anyone know the correct setup for this? What extensions should go through asp.net and what should the PageBlaster settings be?

Thank you!

I distribute a free DotNetNuke Google SItemap generator on my site.

The solution I distribute can be endlessly customised for *any* third party module in DotNetNuke, just by creating a new Sitemap Provider for the required module.  So far I have providers for the Blog Module, Ventrian News Articles module and the Ventrian Property Agent module, plus providers for my own Tagger module.

To answer another previous question, the limit for a sitemap is 10,000 urls, but you can have multiple sitemaps and a sitemap index file, theoretically giving you unlimited sitemap entries.

I have recently switched to free Ifinity's Google Sitemap and have started to update the Smart-Thinker Social Networking Product Suite to ouput URLs to it, starting with the UserProfile module. So now all my public profiles are in my Sitemap, along with my Ventrian articles etc. and soon my user groups and events.

According to the Google Sitemaster Guidelines the limit is 50k or URLs or a 10 meg XML file, whichever comes first.
