The domains are not in the same trees and have a selective trust between the domains. Authentication is not working if I use the domain that we selectively trust. I can successfully setup the AD controller using the domain to which the box belongs but cannot connect to the other domain via the root domain (dc=this,dc=that) options.

I would like to give you detailed as well as a packet dump of the network traffic. Are you able to contact me with an email address that I can send this report to?

Hi Mike,

I have been on leave for a couple of weeks so am just getting some information from the System Managers and will be doing up a report over the next couple of days. Its easter so I understand that you may take a while to get back to me. You can also ask any questions using the email address I provide and I can forward any questions I cannot answer to the System Managers.

Authentication is working and only role synchronisation remaing.

Mike has been extremly helpful in trying to find the cause of our errors. This issue has been resolved from an authentication point of view. Its only role synchronisation. 

If Mike wants a final comment specifying what was done to ensure this works for other people in the same AD setup, I can create the required post.
