In the installation instructions it says NTFS file permissions need to be applied for the asp worker process.

Then only examples for server 2000 and 2003 are given.

I'm running XP SP2 and don't have the (server)/ASPNet or NT Authority / NETWORK SERVICE accounts that are mentioned in the doc.

What should I use?

I have IIS 5 and I get a 403 - forbidden error when going to the page on localhost.

Thanks,

Mike

You should use ASPNET, the NETWORK Service user only exists in windows 2003.  For the most part, it runs in XP like it does in 2000.

Thanks, Crispy.

ASPNET doesn't appear in the list of users. I'm also struggling to find it elsewhere.

Is this what is likely to be causing the 403 error?

Regards,

Mike

Are you sure you have installed ASP.NET?

Good question. Insightful.

Things have moved on.  I now have the permissions set using the ASPNET user.

However, what I now get, if I browse to http://localhost/dotnetnuke/default,aspx , is the source of that file displayed in the browser, almost as if ASP.NET is not installed.

It is however .NET 1.1 in the add/remove programs list.

I did install IIS after .NET.  That is .NET was already there before installing IIS.  Is there something that needs to be done to "encourage" IIS to recognise aspx extensions?

Thanks,

Mike
