While attending DevConnections (excellent, btw :) ), I heard from Shaun and others about DNN 5 and how the skinning engine would be completely rewritten. I am wondering if there are any lists that one could subscribe to in order to get involved in the planning discussions and contribute in any way. Searching for DNN 5 or anything similar is timing out. So, sorry if this is a repeated post. Also, this could use an update: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/ReleaseSchedule/tabid/944/Default.aspx

DNN5/"Cambrian" will actually be a series of releases. The initial release (approximately Q1 2008) focuses on refactoring modules to allow pluggable host/admin modules that support granular permissions and reworking the install/features code. Some of this is necessary for later "Cambrian" releases and some of the skinning architecture may well leverage it. For the initial cambrian release all I can see is some skin editor work, an overhaul of skin package handline and a new version of the ClientAPI and WebControls project.

AFAIK the skinning enhancements are still at the planning/design stage.

At present the best resource for Cambrian details is Charles blog @ http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/BlogID/15/Default.aspx

That's great. Thanks for the info. I am really looking forward (read, hoping) that with the modularization of the Admin features the predefined styles before more self contained within each module and not imposed on everyone (like the default.css).

Thanks again,
Carlos
