I have just upgraded from v4.4.1 to the latest v4.8.0  The upgrade seemed to work fine, but now nobody can login. Event viewer lists this error for each attempted login:

Event message: Membership credential verification failed.

Google tells me the ApplicationName for the membership provider in the web.config is usually the cause of this, but it is set to 'DotNetNuke' as you would expect.

User accounts created since the upgrade can login.

Any ideas?

make sure, you took over the machine encryption key from previously used web.config to your new one.

That was the problem.  Many thanks!
