I ran the upgrade and got this error: 00:00:07.106 -   Executing Script: 04.04.00.SqlDataProvider Error! (see 04.04.00.log for more information)

After the upgrade the site does not work, I get the following error:

Try upgrading first to 4.6.2.  Then, you should be able to upgrade to 4.8.x without problems.

Can you restore the site to the pre-upgrade version, upgrade to 4.6.2 and then upgrad again?

Well I'm making some progrss.

I upgraded to 4.8.1 and also installed 4.8.1 on my local machine.

Know I'm going through the database objects locating the fields that are missing and adding them

so far I've had to add

issecure to view vw_tabs and DefaultCacheTime to vw_modules

The site  now loads but security is all messed up, I only see pages when logged in as Host. I'n now going through the error log to see what else needs adding.
