Hello there,

I created a new module with DotNetNuke 4.8.0 Starter Kit. I am programming in C#. From the HOST menu I selected "Module Definitions" -> "Import Module Definition" and then, I Selected "MyNewModule.dnn" in the Module Manifest drop-down and clicked Import Manifest. It done, I can Add the new module on my Portal's pages. But, I don't know how to debug it, because I add break points in my code, press F5 and Visual Studio simply ignore it. I realised the if I change the module's code the changes don't appear on the module. In order to see my changes running, I have to delete the module I have imported and select "Module Definitions" -> "Import Module Definition" and then, I Select "MyNewModule.dnn" in the Module Manifest drop-down and clicked Import Manifest again. So, the code I am writting is independent from the module I have imported. How can I debug the module that I am doing?

Thanks in advance,

Kau.

Just want to make sure you have installed this module on an DNN instance on your pc/server you are running VS on. If so, is this set up as a web site project or a WAP project?

As far as I know the manifest file just affects the definition of the module. On my installation any change made to the code-behind shows up in the behaviour of your module just refreshing the browser, whithout re-defining it in the host menu. I debug introducing breakpoints (F9) and selecting Debug>Start Debugging. I also think that this has to be stated in your web.config:

...
  <system.web>
    ...
    <compilation debug="true" strict="false">
    ...
  <system.web>
...

Hope that helps,
Dario Rossa.

It sounds like you are using a WAP module template that compiles all code.  I have a tutorial on my site that shows you how to debug a WAP module.

Hello,

Thanks for answering. I have downloaded "DotNetNuke 4.8.0 Install" and opened it on VS (File -> Open Web Site), after that I installed "DotNetNuke 4.8.0 Starter Kit" on my pc. I created a new module using C#. It isn't a WAP project.
