I deleted a custom list item in the Host>Lists Then all the lists disappeared from view. All I'm left with is the Add List link. When I attempt to add a list or list item the following General Exception occurs. DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider ExceptionGUID: e16ae492-e94b-462c-b1f5-984e257d9fb2 InnerException: Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32). FileName: FileLineNumber: 0 FileColumnNumber: 0 Method: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError StackTrace: Message: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32). at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.HasMoreRows() at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.ReadInternal(Boolean setTimeout) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader.Read() at DotNetNuke.Common.Lists.ListController.FillListInfoDictionary(IDataReader dr) Source: Can anyone suggest the cause or remedy for this issue. I'm using DNN 4.0.8 I've also checked the DB and all of the List items previous to this issue occurring are still there, so they havn't been deleted.

When deleting items dotnetnuke uses cascading deletes (a specialised form of trigger). Normally this works fine, but I'm guessing a 3rd party module has added an additional trigger causing a recursive loop. Ideally you'd identify the module and delete it as it may well break future core updates. However you can work around this by disabling nester triggers via T-SQL i.e.

sp_configure 'nested triggers', 0
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE

I was getting this error :

Maximum stored procedure, function, trigger, or view nesting level exceeded (limit 32)

and tracked it down to the following :

I had updated the (out of date) DNN country list with new countries but had not correctly updated the ParentID of the Regions : USA and Cnada

Once I had sorted this, the above error disappeared.
