Hi,

I have a couple of questions about AD authentication.  On both of our 'sites' (Development and QA) we are running DNN v4.8.0

1) When we attempted to add AD to our Dev site we tried to use v1.0.3 and it did not work.  The developer has tried to put back v1.0.0 back on but is receiving the following error:

Error: is currently unavailable.

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.AddADSIPath(String Path, Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry(Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.ADSIProvider.GetNetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Authenticat

Any suggestions?  Should we attempt to put v1.0.03 back on?

2) On our QA box, the same developer just used v1.0.0 instead of v1.0.03, and got it to work properly, however what we would like is for it to be able to 'automagically' recognize the user and not make them log in.  Is this possible?

Thank you!

Michael

Version 01.00.00 will not work with DNN 4.8.0 or 4.8.1. There were changes done to the core code to make DNN IIS7 compatible (in integrated pipeline mode) that broke a piece of the 01.00.00 AD code. Version 01.00.03 fixes the code break.

So that said, the code break is why you're getting the error using the 01.00.00 version of the provider on your Dev system and you'll need to run 01.00.03 on there. If you could explain more about what didn't work (errors etc) and a bit about your development environment we should be able to get it working.

On your QA box. I'd verify that you are indeed running DNN 4.8.0 (Host->Host Settings) and that you're running 01.00.00 of the AD provider (01.00.00 .dll size is 76KB while .03 is 84KB and also includes the Interop.ActiveDs.dll).

If all is setup correctly users should be automatically recognized and logged in but for the you may have to clear your cookies the first time or possibly you may need to use impersonation. Again, a little bit about your QA environment will help sort this out.

Ok... I am going to push to get 1.0.03 up and running.

Our QA should just be the AD module that came with v4.8.0, they didn't upgrade.  After we get 'approval', I will move our Dev. site over to our production server then go update the Dev to the latest module, and then can give you the errors that we were seeing in before.
