I have been following your progress with the new site and you've got it looking real good. Your journey has answered a lot of questions for me as I've been developing a site that while not a car club, does incorporate the same functionality in many areas. I notice that you have an issue with the small event calendar on your homepage that I also had on my site. Clicking one of the dates with an event attached does not display the event. I've tried about every combination of settings to get that to work, but the only way I've found is to enable Month View Cell Events, and doing that causes the calendar display to become too large. I finally left mine in list mode.

Another question I had was regarding your Member Rides page. What module did you use to create that and what are you using for your slide show? I have a similar page and use Xmod along with the Fatgeorge file upload plug-in for list/detail views, but I need a better slide show solution. Do you allow your members to add/update their own listings and photos on that page or do they submit everything to you?

Again, thanks for asking all the questions because the answers provided have helped me a lot with my site.

Ed

Looking good! Sometimes I miss my Camaro. But then I go outside and drive my corvette home so I forget about the Camaro :)

On member ride, we used a User Defined Table for searching, and then on the individual pages we are using Ultra Media Gallery to run the slideshow.  It has WAY more features than we are using, but I wanted to keep it simple.  So far, that is the only module we have bought, and worth every penny.  We built up a file structure for the users cars  like /member ride/A_B_C/archer_shannon/67 RSSS and then we point the module to the member root (archer_shannon in this example) and then whatever folders are under her root will show up as albums on the UMG.  If there is only one vehicle (like in this case) UMG will open that album and start displaying it's contents.  I can add pics to a members vehicle folder, and the next time UMG updates the cache, they are now part of the slideshow (the dynamic gallery feature is AWESOME!).  If she bought another car, I could FTP up a folder (say 84 Z28) with pics in it into her root, and the next cache will suddenly display multiple vehicle albums for the user to look through (example on our site would be Kevin Mackin with several cars).  It just does it automatically, and so far has worked every time exactly like I would expect.  I did a similiar thing for the events pages, except I used a text/html module for the ilnks since I am only covering a few years.  We used to display back to 2002, but I decided not to fill up the website with pcs that far back.  We are working on adding a member ride type page for club video's using the youtube viewer, but I have not taken that live yet.  Also, we use a repository module on a page called Member upload (which only registered users can see) to allow the users to get new pics, vids and stories up to the site so that we can get them added to the appropriate pages without filling up email inboxes.  There is also a member only WIKI page, as well as some member only downloads.  Also working on building a tech feature page where the members can share articles they have written about mods and maintanance.  Not sure if we will make that one public, but it has no content right now, so it is hidden.  We will not be using open registration on the main portal, but the forum will be open to registration by anyone, and the store will not need registration except for the admin personel.  Overall, we are pretty happy with the site, but it is a bit slow sometimes, and there are several things about DNN that get frustrating (like the FCK Editor and the Events module!)  Still working out the bugs with the forum, and only just got a store module working yesterday and haven't started to learn how to use it yet, maybe this weekend.  I think this new site will be far more usefull to our members than the old one!
