After careful thought (about 15 minutes) perhaps it's time that we should add new forums for today's tools This was not caused by DotNetNuke, Microsoft is solely to blame for this latest round of versionitis. If we don't do this soon, we are all going to have a tough time sorting out who is doing what with what. We will waste more time asking environment questions instead of solving problems.

Sadly this will also affect Gemini because we have all sorts of combinations of Windows Server / Vista / XP, VS2005 and VS2008  / asp.net 2.0 and 3.5 and IIS6 and IIS7.Since there should be no DotNetNuke code breaking changes between asp.net 2.0 and 3.5 the real differences may or may not be found in between IIS6 and IIS7. We already have 4.8.1 working in IIS7 (with classic, testing pipeline).

My recommendation is to forget every combination and offer the following new forums ASAP:

Extend It (VS2008, WS2003, XP, IIS6 and .net 2.0)
If you’re developing modules or extensions working with VS2008, Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP, using asp.net 2.0 and IIS6 come on in and join the crowd.

Extend It! (VS2008, WS2008, Vista, IIS7 and .net 3.5)
If you’re developing next generation modules or extensions with Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Internet Information Services 7 and .net framework 3.5 then this is the place you want to be. DotNetNuke on steroids... Engage!

DotNetNuke - Windows Server/IIS 7 is like steroids to DNN, like a dream come true; the new server empowers our DNN sites to run faster and in a much more stable manner.

To coincide with the official worldwide launch of Visual Studio 2008, DotNetNuke Corporation is proud to announce the immediate availability of DotNetNuke 4.8.1, an exciting new release which offers native support for Visual Studio 2008, Windows Server 2008, and IIS 7.0.

A Zero Tolerance clean build with 4.1.0 should keep our community busy while Cambrian is underway.

Now that I have written this, where would you suggest that it be posted? Should we also add a forum called DotNetNuke Suggestion Box?

What are your thoughts or ideas on this?
