Here's my current situation. DNN 4.7 with some custom modules installed. All of this information is being generated by a SuperUser, so there are no permission settings that I'm aware of.
Some users are not able to be deleted. When I click on the red X to delete a user, it will either delete the user or give me a red triangle with the message "Error Deleting User".
If I go under the Admin list and check the Event Viewer, there is no indication that any event happened, No error or anything.
If I go in to edit my 'Test user', and then manage the roles, all of the roles are cleared.
I am able to deauthorize, authorize, and modify the user with no problem. I just can't delete the user.
This is not a global problem, some of the users I am able to delete, some I am not able to delete. There is no noticable difference between the accounts of who is deleteable and who is not.
I installed the same modules on my localhost test account and had no problems with any users. I then made a new parent portal from the same DNN installation that I'm having issues with. With the new account, i'm able to delete the users I created so far with no problems. I've uploaded files, posted to forums, and done every other type of action that I can see causing an issue to try and force an error and I can't replicate it. However, the users that are currently undeletable are still sitting there, with no roles, and not being able to be deleted.
1) I've seen a bunch of posts about this error deleting user problem, but haven't seen an 'official' response on what is going on or a potential fix. I'd really appreciate some kind of official response if this is a known issue that is resolved in DNN4.8, or if a fix is coming, or if this is a one of problem that won't likely be fixed.
2) Am I safe creating a new portal from the same DNN install/database and just using a different IIS Virtual drive to point to it, or am I better of starting with a new install/portal and restarting everything?
3) Can someone point me to what is happening when I click on delete user? Maybe I can track it down that way and find out where it's hanging up?
4) Sorry about the length of the post, I was trying to offer as much information as possible.
Thanks,
Rob
