Being new i have tried to understand the friendly url option but get confused with the $1 or similar in the current setting, what i wish to do is hide the / portals / 0 part of the link so  www /mysite.com / portals / 0 / myfilename / would become www. / mysite / myfilename /

Also when creating a new file/folder it will let you create a folder called myfilename  with no problems, but when i try and create a folder called www.myfoldername.com  it defaults to www_myfoldername_com replacing the dot with an underscore or seems to. This seems to be a folder pre set property or rule of some kind ? if so where do i edit this rule to allow the folder type with a dot.

I can create the folders in FTP and place them that way but would rather just use the control panel to place them, any help on the above would be appreciated

Pete
