I upgraded our version of DNN this morning.  I had a "page" link that went straight to a PDF at the root level (Portals/0/name.pdf).  It worked the last time I checked it (several months ago) and now that I have upgraded I get "You Do Not Have Permission To View The Requested File".  Any suggestions?

bradwCCG,

I'd suggest re-applying the security permissions in your application's filesystem. Selecting the "advanced" option on the "Security tab" and then checking the box "Replace all existing inheritable...." is probably your best bet.

You probably already have the right user, its just not applied to every file...but just in case - here is the breakdown:

Operating System             IIS Version    User Account

Windows XP Professional     IIS 5.0 & 5.1  ASP.NET Machine Account

Windows Server 2000         IIS 5.0           ASP.NET Machine Account

Windows Server 2003         IIS 6.0           Network Service Account

Windows Vista                  IIS 7.0           Network Service Account

Windows Server 2008         IIS 7.0           Network Service Account

take care,

Ian,

We checked out the file system and it appears the proper users and permissions are in place.  At the suggestion of a coworker I looked up some more information about the DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler found in the Web.config.  I synchronized my files as suggested in the file manager and still am having the same problem.  Do you have any other suggestions?

 Thanks,

Brad W.

Brad,

Have you tried moving this PDF file to a different location and seeing if that makes a difference? Are you using the secure file system in DNN or no?

Take care,

Ian

Ian,

Yeah, we have tried moving the PDF file around and it does not seem to make a difference.  I do not think we are using the secure file system because I am using our FTP to move the file around.

Thanks,

Brad W.
