Mike, I'm using 4.08.01 and AD 1.00.00. I have found a post after a few hours of reading were you say that 1.00.00 does not work with this version, so I am now using 1.00.03 which did get me past that error and is allowing me access to the admin/authentication settings. So we move closer.. Should I use the config file you mentioned over the development one?

So for my new error:

I provide the correct LDAP info for root domain and a user who does have read access to AD and now I get this error when I try to update the settings:

Error: is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.AddADSIPath(String Path, Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.Utilities.GetRootEntry(Path ADSIPath) at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.ADSI.ADSIProvider.GetNetworkStatus() at DotNetNuke.Authentication.ActiveDirectory.Settings.UpdateSettings() --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Glad you got it working. The error you were getting before threw me as it wasn't the usual one.

The error you're getting now is because you have to use impersonation in your web.config (the NETWORK SERVICE account doesn't have access to the Active Directory as it's a local account to the server). How to implement it is covered in the documentation.
