I'm seeing this too.  I'm using the latest updates for IE running on an updated 64-bit Vista to edit my DNN site.  The FCKEditor works intermittently in rich text fields.  It will work for a while and then not work at all.  Once it locks up, its not clear how to get it to work again.  Is there a fix?  Is it client side or server side?  Thanks for any help.

Sebastian:

When you say turn off AJAX I assume that you mean go into the User Account module and under the ascx control turn off supports partial rendering by unchecking the box. I have done this and restarted the app and it still will not save  a bio in the User Profile.

Am I following the right approach? Is this something to be fixed soon?

Some admin controls apparently have updatepanels wrapped around them, even if supports partial rendering is not checked.

I know this is an issue with module settings pages, I have a blog post on how to fix the issues with module settings pages.

If you have tried to uncheck the box for an individual control and it isn't working, about the only solution would be to disable it for the entire installation, via the "Enable AJAX" setting under host settings.

I have had the same problems with FCKeditor and AJAX as the rest here, but I happen to like using AJAX in the modules that I write!

But one fix I fould to work with Rich Text: When you have en FCKeditor on a page/module, then you just have to register the "Update" button (or any other controls that might want to send the contents of the editor to the server) to use a full postback to the server instead of a partical update. (It is also the recommended fix for FileUpload controls and other controls with AJAX problems.) Like this line in your Page_Load():

DotNetNuke.Framework.AJAX.RegisterPostBackControl( ___name_of_update_linkbutton____ );

Of course, I would much rather have an editor who could use AJAX :-)
