This is best information. I suggest to place it as a text link on top in this Install It! room for beginners.

Some minor points were said above, I'll add myne: This works for the source package and thus the virtual directory has to point to the <website> directory. - Second, the <appsettings> entry in web.config obviously has the <key><value> form for compatibility to the 3.1 modules (Links, Books...).

Following the given steps carefully will lead to a working dnn installation. - Thanks, Kathryn

Hi KathrynRF,

In your post you say:

"Select the database from the “default database” dropdown (MyDB)"

Am I a complete luddite here? I can find no reference anywhere for MyDB... I have searched but it just isn't there.

Also, the bits that get added to and ... do they just get added in the middle of the string or do they replace the end of the string?

I heard this was easy and I have no idea what is going on! any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

The "MyDB" refers to the name of the database you created; I just picked "mydb", "myusername" and "mypw" as examples.

The bits that get added replace what is already there; I put the parts that need to get edited in blue.

Hope that helps!

Kathryn
