I found an old interesting forum post on the subject:

Maybe this will help you.

FINALLY! I GOT IT! Well, no I didn't.  I had finally given up on the 4.8.2 installation and used the 4.7.0 install package.  It installed with no problems.  After the install, I upgraded to 4.8.2 using these directions: http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/tabid/54/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/55/DotNetNuke-Upgrade-Tips-Lessons-Learned.aspx

It worked with no problems.  (Well, during the upgrade, it brought me to an Under Construction page.  You will need to type the URL for the install again.  It is noted in the website listed above, though.)

For those that had the problems listed in this posting, you may want to install the older version & upgrade to 4.8.2.

Good Luck!

hmm,. this is what is sucky.,

i downloaded the source, got it up to the install stage, it installed the DB stuff with no problem., then it asked about the modules, during the installation of that., i got a threading error... nothing would work on it., couldnt continue the installation so i restarted the app pool., that took me to an attempt to run it., and then it woudl crash on Portal ID, did a quick search turns out that it might have been an issue with using deployment.config for web.config instead of production, so i said screw it, ill just redo everything., deleted it from iis, all the files., uncompress,. setup iis., ran installation., this time for db prefix names,  i used d_ instead of dnn_ since dnn was already used., and THIS TIME i got the error you guys have pointed out about the conversion to integer...

logically., looking at the install., or the db creation., i noticed the DB installation for 4.0 and then the 25 million upgrades it does...  shouldnt it be a LITTLE smarter? maybe it is, and im not smart enough to look in the correct place., but.... i selected the custom, no options to skip any part of the installation? no sql script i can run myself so that i dont have to go thru the million upgrades?

Hello There,

I am trying to install DNN455 on my new webhost. I think I got the same error as everyone here:

Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...Upgrading Database to Version ERROR: See C:\Inetpub\vhosts\mywebsite.co.il\httpdocs\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\04.04.00.log for more information...FAILURE 400 - Conversion from string "ERROR: See C:Inetpubvhosts orexi" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

I didn't see this error on my old webhost. The difference between the 2 hosts is the MSSQL version.
In my old host I use MSSQL Server and the new one MSSQL Express Server.

After I got the error, I got out of my website. When I tried to call my website again I got the MSSQL versions upgrade. When it ended successfully, it instructed me to go to my site. I opened my website and got another error:

Domain Name www.mydomainname.co.il Does Not Exist In The Database

DotNetNuke supports multiple portals from a single database/codebase. It accomplishes this by converting the URL of the client browser Request to a valid PortalID in the Portals database table. The following steps describe the process:

  1. Web Server Processing
    • When a web server receives a Request from a client browser, it compares the file name extension on the target URL resource to its Application Extension Mappings defined in IIS.
    • Based on the corresponding match, IIS then sends the Request to the defined Executable Path ( aspnet_asapi.dll in the case of ASP.NET Requests ).
    • The aspnet_isapi.dll engine processes the Request in an ordered series of events beginning with Application_BeginRequest.
  2. HttpModule.URLRewrite OnBeginRequest ( UrlRewriteModule.vb )
    • The Request URL is parsed based on the "/" character
    • A Domain Name is constructed using each of the relevant parsed URL segments.

and so on...

Can someone official help here?

I had the same problem. Have you found solution?
