We have created a seperate asp.net web application that we want to run within a DNN site using the iframe module. We also want the web app to run under the same URL as our DNN portal. e.g. www.mydnnportal.com/myseperatewebapp

This is how I have approached it so far;

Made a directory in our route DNN folder called "webapp"
Copied all files across
Set the correct permissions
Right clicked the new "webapp" directory within IIS > Properties
Create new within Applictation Settings

Now when I browse to www.mydnnportal.com/myseperatewebapp i am seeing the right file but an error occurs as it is using DNN's web.config rather than its own.

Am I going the right way about this??

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Gaz :)

Have you double checked you have a seperate web.config in your webapp and it is a virtual directory within the dotnetnuke virtual directory?

It should work, normally web.config files in subdirectories should override the ones in the root directory. Make sure all the settings that are different in your seperate webbapp have been overwritten in your webapps web.config. That's as far as my knowledge goes on the subject. Maybe google some on .net webapps inside .net webapps and the iis settings for this issue or search or post on the asp.net site. I don't think its a DNN specific problem but rather a .net problem.

I think that web.config files cascade within an application so forexample if you have an app nested in another you'll need to redefine every value that is defined within the root web.config.
This is certainly a .net issue
