Hi,

While edit tin the HOST->LANGUAGES,  I got the error message mentioned below.
I did in the past a lot of translations and this is the first time I get this message.
Somebody can help me with this?

Hi Sebastian,

Due some reasons the permissions where unchecked.
After checking them all went ok.
Thanks for the support.

hi,

I have the same error (so didn't want to start a new thread),

my error only occurs whilst editing GlobalResources file.

I am running windows2003 IIS 6, so edited Network Service and gave permission to read and write files in the root folder (and also did the same for DesktopModules, Portals, Resources folders - too)

but still get the same error - "A File Operation Failed. Please Check Resource File Permissions So Files Can Be Edited"

(don't know what else to try)

Hello Mark, (late response, but for the record)

The issue you are describing, this error popping up only when editing GlobalResources.resx, has just also happened to me. I found this thread and your post and decided to give it a few different tries. Here's what I've found:

The error is only related to GlobalResources.resx or any variation of it, i.e., GlobalResources.en-GB.resx, GlobalResources.Portal-2.resx, etc. Besides, I have found that it occurs only under DNN v4.x.x; it seems that the issue has been solved for DNN v5.x.x (though I have only tested it under v5.1.4, and it worked OK, no errors).

The workaround:

1. Edit the resource file by yourself, taking into account if it will be a System, Host or Portal level modification. For more information on this, please read this blog entry. The file GlobalResources.resx is located inside the ~/App_GlobalResources folder.

2. If you want a Host or Portal level solution, the only thing the new file (e.g., GlobalResources.en-ZA.Portal-0.resx) should contain (besides the default XML schema) is something like the following:

  <data name="Tabs.String" xml:space="preserve">
    <value>Pages</value>
  </data>

2.a) The previous entry(ies) will be located below the last </resheader> and above </root>.

2.b) Don't forget to delete all the unchanged <data name=... entries.

HTH :-)

Saludos!
