In my first experience with adding a child portal it changed the ID number on all the pages. Results were that I had to reconnect all the sites internal text links manually. Menus self corrected. I remember seeing somewhere a module of some kind the kept that from happening but didn't follow up as I didn't understand the need until now. With dozens of links and adding more portals this can be a real time consumer. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

John

sorry, I do not understand your problems - IDs are always portal specific, not to parent or child. Can you be please more specific about your issue?

It sounds to me as if you've exported a portal with contents included and then used it as a template to create a new portal.

If that's correct and it contained images in text modules then yes, you'll probably find some problems with paths. The module you saw will have been Engage F3, which can be used to change text, and therefore image paths in text modules, in bulk. It's a fix in an emergency more than anything else however.

Or perhaps you're doing something else.

Yes, that is correct. I used the Parent as a template to create the child with contents via the Wizard. Then it renumbered the pages so that the text links all had to be corrected again. Lots of patching up on the Parent to get it all working. Also, I believe it was the Engage F3 - thinking it would be something to stop that or correct it. Apparently not.

At issue is I'm going to be setting up child sites for resellers so they each can have their own site to sell from and work on. I want to use the Parent to create Child duplicates as I need them. If doing so changes the text like internally each time, that can be a pain. If that's just the way it is, I'll just leave them out of the Parent altogether. Menus adjust just fine.

Thanks,

John
