HI
Questions and points on the account login module

1> Does anyone know if it is possible to edit the account login module so that it does more than vanish when the user is logged in.
It used to indicate that the user was logged in.  The behaviour now is confusing for users ?

2> Remember Password: Given that many factors affect this feature working at all for many installs / users would it not be useful to be able to turn it off.
My question is: Can I just take this out of the aspx?

The login is the first dnn feature many use and it needs to be configurable ?

Does anyone know of a replacement module ?

Thanks

Ian

I don't know of any free Login Modules. I may have seen one once upon a time, but it is lost in the fog of memory. ;)

Check here Snowcovered Login Modules

They cost monies, but they are alternatives.

HI

I am quite happy to buy modules - I already have a copy of the ucanuse module but, afaik, most such modules only extend the existing account module code.

1. Yes, you can indicate that the user is logged in. Just add this to the top of the Login.ascx , above the <asp:panel>

<% If Request.IsAuthenticated Then %>You are logged in.<% End If %>

2. Of course you can hide the "Remember Me" away from users by modifying the ascx. But before doing so, make sure that you've got the function working properly. Open web.config and change this line (change bolded). I set my timeout value to about 10 years; you can re-adjust it :)

<forms name=".DOTNETNUKE" protection="All" timeout="315360000" cookieless="UseCookies" />

Hope this helps.

My bad...

It seems that DNN hides the whole module away from Registered users, so this will only work with Admins.

I'll see if I can change this behaviour.
