Reading all of the problems some are having upgrading from older versions, I was hoping someone has the proper upgrade procedure to go from 4.5.3 to 4.8.2 so I can avoid screwing up production sites that cannot be down for days trying to figure out a problem with the upgrade. I understand there are some significant changes from 4.5.3 to 4.8.2... If there is anyone out there who can help please post it here.

Thanks...

If you're new to upgrading I recommend you read the "detailed installation guide" found here , and the excellent set of blog entries from Erik here and here.

Also if possible take the backup of the site and set it up locally and test the upgrade first.
