Mike -

Funny you should ask, this is on both my live and development servers/portals!  I have deleted the files and tried to reinstall and have had no success.  Is there any records I may need to manually delete in the db?  I took the same .zip file and loaded it on my personal website without error and when I tried again on my work site it failed with the same error.

I'm lost now.  I don't want to reinstall the site but if I need to then I guess I have to.  I didn't mention we were on 4.7.0 before and I upgraded our development server last week to 4.8.2 without error.  Then all the sudden today the login stopped working on both sites.

Any additional help or ideas would be great!  I'm hitting my head on a brick wall now

Oh yeah, uninstalled the OpenId and LiveId and now cannot install them either.  Tried installing a different module and worked just fine.  Just the authentication modules.

Did you get any errors when you upgraded to 4.8.2? When you install the AD provider can you still use it but not automatically login or do you get the same error as you posted in your original post?

No errors when we upgraded.  At that time I had only upgraded our development side and just upgraded the production side this morning.  I ended up taking the new web.config file and adding my specifics to it and it all worked out.  I looked through the web.config file last night for close to 3 hours and could not find where the difference was, so I decided since I wouldn't be any further behind to just upgrade to 4.8.2 from 4.7 as my upgrade on the development side was smooth.

Thanks for the quick replies yesterday and all the suggestions!

So all is good now or are you still getting the errors?

No more errors!  Just need to make sure I have my authentication set right now.  I want my end users to log in each time so I have commented out the line you mentioned above and set the WindowsSignIn.aspx file to not allow ann. access.

Thanks Mike
