WHY cant you set the values for a LIST property in the User profiles. I am making my own profile property (male/Female) and I set the property value to "list" and I just get an error satying. "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

I have searched the forum and have seen several other people with the same issue - and it seems like there is no answer?

does anyone care? 

any ideas?

I am using 4.6.2

You need to login as Host and then goto Host >> Lists menu to define the list name.  You then specify a valid list name when creating profile attribute for type List.

From the Host >> Lists, create a list name Gender with two values Male and Female.  When creating user profile attribute, specify Gender in the Property Name.

Check out this blog for an example of creating profile attribute based currency list.

Maybe upgrade your site to DNN 4.7 or higher if you can.
