well, it's not fixed in 3.01.09, but the behavior is a 'little' better.

if you're on page 2 and change an atribute filter that only results in 1 page, you will still see a blank page and 'Page 2 of 1'. However, if you click on 'Prev' you will go to page 1 but your attribute selection will still remain in place so you will see the proper items on page 1.

I agree with you .. when filters are changed, the page should automatically go back to page 1 .. that part will be fixed in 3.01.10 ( April release .. targetted for the end of April ) 

If you are okay with making source code changes yourself, once 3.01.09 is released, I will tell you where in the code you can make the change .. it's a simple change, just didn't catch it in time for the 3.01.09 release :(
