Mike, all I can say now is that once you finalize the next version, I'm sure many installations will benefit.  I have to hand it to you guys, having family obligations, work obligations, etc. and still being able to provide code to the masses, your the best!  You have my utmost respect.  Now quit reading this forum and concentrate, Danielson.

Just an FYI with my current setup now....If I leave syncronize roles on, as users login they are actually removed from their roles that are in AD and the portal, since I've rolled back to version 1.00.03 from the beta 1.00.04.  You said that there wasn't a difference in the way roles are sync'd between the two, but then why would this happen?

I used three different account to test with.  If I manually add the user to my custom role that matches their group membership in AD, then log them in, the user is removed from the group on the portal.  If I manually add them back to the role, and uncheck "syncronize roles" they are fine.  Is there a way to completely remove the AD provider and start over?  I've got new users joining all the time (intranet application) that I don't want to have to be bothered with adding them to the correct roles.  The sync roles was working very well, with the few noted exceptions herein, but now it does just the opposite of what I need it to do!  Sorry to bug you.

If you go back to Host->Host Settings and remove it from there then it'll be totally removed (double check that all the files and the .dlls are gone). Then reinstall and you'll be back to a fresh .03.

I just did a WinMerge on the .03 source and the .04 source and the Group search had no changes to it. I just did a search on our school's portal site and checked a couple of user accounts and I'm not seeing the problem with any of the groups either so at this point I don't know what to say.

BTW you're not bugging me. This is as confusing for me as it is you.

Mike,

This happened to me as well (removal from AD Groups when Sync was on).  I attributed it to be part of the Win2K AD issue.  I'm hoping that the Sync problem goes away once the AD Query code is fixed. I know you've been busy with final exam stuff, but do you have an idea when this might be released?

Thanks for all you are doing,

Tom

On Friday we upgraded our production server from 3.2.2 to 3.7.7 and then to 4.8.2, installed the 1.0.4 beta of the AD provider.  The authentication is working, although there have been some behavioral differences, and I think it likely they're due to IIS/NTFS permissions.  The main behavior problem is are that we are not getting roles to synch, and a minor difference is the AD users are not showing up the same in Who's Online as they were on the test system.  (The non-admins are showing as visitors and my AD account that is in the Administrators role is incrementing the members count, but not showing up in the list of online users.)

The IIS anonymous account has been restricted (locked out) which is the big difference, and I don't think we are using impersonation, but that is the first thing I'm going to try today.   I'll let you know how it goes.
