Hi

I just tried to publish my DNN 4 site to a subfolder of my WebSite on my webserver.

This resulted in an error that can occur when not running as root of a IIS WebSite :

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS

Is thre any way to run DNN from a subfolder like http://mysite.com/test. I would like this to be able to publish testversions of the DNN site before I replace the original ASP site for real.

Thanks in advance.

You will get a better result if you use the subdomain method -

eg.. http://test.mysite.com  - not  run into this issue.

There's just a little problem since the site is running on a webserver on a webhotel, which means that I'm not able to make subdomains.

Well that is a problem, from what I understand it has be a full domain to run. I could be wrong but I ran into this issue with another client a while ago - you can set the folders up in a subdomain - that's not the issue, it's the fact that dotnetnuke 4, from my understanding will not run with www.yoursite.com/test - it really does have to be in a subdomain environment or full url.

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong!

Well actually it's not that big a problem, since I have another empty webhotel.

It would just be a nice thing to be able to do. But I can see why it can be a problem.
